Today I’m thinking about memorializing our family pets. I’m guessing it may seem a bit eccentric to hang pet portraits on walls after they have died, and even when they are still alive.
But is it? Pets reach inside our hearts with the greatest of ease. We let them in, before we even think about it. After they have gone, we miss their importance. We’ve shared our most intimate secrets. We’ve trusted our pets more than any human and we’ve shared moments of complete trust.
So it makes sense to create a keepsake, a memorial, as a way to remind us we are capable of the love locked up within.
Seeing a picture on the wall inspires us to greater heights of connection We easily share love with our pets. But it doesn’t need to stop there. Our pets taught us this love. Now it is time to boldly resurrect this love with everyone we meet during the day.
Yes. A pet’s portrait reminds us to continue the love we experienced. Each time we pass our pet’s image, we can remember how we felt when we were together. This energy we know. A portrait can celebrate love!
