Music and Art keeps me sane!

I’ve heard it said, Gratitude is the healthiest of emotions. So I propose music, writing, dancing, painting, drawing, singing, liberal arts, are the healthiest of activities. And, don’t you know this is the time to stay healthy. 🙂

How to be a source of energy during a pandemic.

It is a choice to remain a beam of light when it seems like darkness looms all around. Energy is eternal. It is within us and without us. It is at our disposal at all times.

Spring after Winter reminds us to keep hope alive!

Sources of energy radiate through internal ideas. I can chose to act on those ideas. Passion for these small creative inspirations gets me, and the world around me, through days of uncertainty.

This morning I woke up wondering how I could help others without leaving my home. I first felt a twinge of guilt. Manny and I are staying at home or in the car to avoid getting and spreading COVID-19. Then the idea came to me to write to you! I was ready to jump out of bed at 5:00 a.m., filled with anticipation. How fun is that?! How far from the worry and concern over our family, friends and neighbors! So here are my thoughts today:

We are each beams of light. Worry covers the light. In the next few days, I hope to share little ideas that can uncover your source of energy.

Your light can make a difference!

  • Think and focus on the people in your home.
  • Find ways to reach out to your family, friends and neighbors.
  • Stop talking about the obvious bad things (hard to do) and focus on some good, fun loving things!)
  • Look to serve those around you.
  • Let go of worry
  • Make room within yourself for smiles, ideas, and favorite projects
Make friends with yourself and you’ll never be alone! —BAliaga

A. If you feel stuck at home, get yourself a cup of tea or coffee and make a list of projects around the house you’ve been wanting to take on but haven’t had the time. Now you do!

B. Just because you can’t visit your friends at the moment, you can call them. Use FaceTime. Get yourself ready by dressing up. You can even create a conference and get a few of your friends together through several video apps. (If there’s interest, I can write more about this)

C. I discovered I can play together with my grandchildren online by using my PlayStation4 Plus Party feature. I can create a private party with as many as 16 people. Many games allow up to 8 players, while some games are 1 player. In this case we take turns. What a concept.

My grandchildren come alive, “Nana!” “Nana!”, “come over here. See me! Behind you! Use the square!” We played Minecraft last night until we had to go to bed. It was amazingly social and fun —- and —- we were not in the house together. We were socially distant and cooperating with the safety of others.

There’s more to talk about and I hope to encourage anyone who is getting discouraged. As always choose the brighter side of life! I’m sure you have many more ideas. Please share them here.

Getting To Happy, My Journey

It turns out, a book is often judged by its cover

I am conscious of vast new ideas, internal powers, an infinite array of selves from within. It has been another year of discovery and adventure!

One of the discoveries within my self-publishing world is the importance of a cover. The new ideas, internal powers and infinite array of selves from within respond to the cover and make a split decision to open and explore pages. I realize this now.

Old cover

The first cover showed a couple who appeared unhappy, in search of happiness. It was not something appealing to someone who wanted to improve their levels of delight. The new cover is a photo of a rhododendron in my garden. It’s a beautiful yellow variety! It is huge after years of growth in my front yard.

The closeup of one blossom is soft, warm, gentle, open, generous (to the the bees). To me, it suggests an invitation to continue along the road of happiness, to find ways to cultivate happiness rather than gloom and hopelessness.

At any rate, I am finally convinced covers matter. I am sure this thought holds power within my life and how I allow others into it. In a nutshell, here are my thoughts:

  1. Symbols, pictures, photos, etc., hold messages of energy and are received by others.
  2. Everyone places meaning to these energy messages according to their interpretation.
  3. The closer I am to my inner world, the more I can relate to the world around me. In other words, the more helpful I can be to others.

It’s a great world, if you stay on course! What do you think about covers? Happy day!

Spring 2019 and Courage

Lilacs in the Pacific Northwest

For the past couple of years I have taken a few lessons on-line to play the piano. I soon took to learning a few chords and becoming lazy. Most of my family play by ear so I thought, why not me? At any rate, today I decided to play songs for spring and put them the music to photos I’ve taken around the garden!

Pretty fun morning! But, I mixed the piano playing with background violins, basses, sitar’s and who knows what else from Garage Band on my iPad. I know I have a lot of guts to let this go in front of you. But one thing I have it courage to take the moment and share it with the world. It comes naturally.

I apologize if anyone falls asleep throughout this makeshift piano recital.

By the way, I’m working on a couple of writing projects. I’m also reading a lot more lately. Yes. Freely from the public library who has eBooks available. I’ve enjoyed reading Crazy Rich Asians, by Kevin Kwan. I loved the movie, and was delighted to see the richness (no pun intended) of the original novel. Reading is such fun! I am also reading Publishing E-Books for Dummies, by Ali Luke. Even though last year I self-published with Amazon, I loved the support this writer conveys. Currently I am reading Shortcuts to Inner Peace, by Ashley Davis Bush. I feel a kindred spirit in this author and Grief Counselor.

So life is what you make of it and I plan on forming attitudes that allow happy outcomes, no matter how long my deviant brain wants to take to get there! Have a wonderful day and I hope to write again soon.
