Here’s some interesting facts about the word “googol” which is unlike the company “Google” we are all so familiar with.

A googol is the number 10100 (or 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000). The word googol was first used by 9-year-old Milton Sirotta, nephew of U.S. mathematician Edward Kasner. Sirotta made this word in 1938, for the number represented by the numeral 1 followed by 100 zeros. It is said that the word “googol” was chosen to represent this number because it sounded like baby talk. The company Google was named after the number “googol”. It was named this because it was said that not only did google sound like googol, but Google had a googol search results.

Googol Facts For Kids,

Sounds like some strange animal or a creature from outer space, doesn’t it? But it’s neither of them. A googol is a number, a very large number. You are probably familiar with numbers such as:
1 + 6 zeroes = 1,000,000, one million
1 + 9 zeroes = 1,000,000,000, one billion
1 + 12 zeroes = 1,000,000,000,000, one trillion
1 + 15 zeroes = 1,000,000,000,000,000, one quadrillion.
But did you know that there are names for numbers larger than these?
1 + 18 zeroes = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000, one quintillion
1 + 21 zeroes = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, one sextillion
1 + 24 zeroes = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, one septillion
1 + 27 zeroes = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, one octillion
1 + 30 zeroes = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, one nonillion.
The largest number with a name, however, is a 1 followed by 100 zeroes. That is a googol. It was named by the 9-year old nephew of a mathematician, who was explaining to the boy what that 1 with 100 zeroes after it looked like. When he asked the boy what that number should be called, the boy answered, a “googol.” And that name stuck!
This is what a googol looks like.

What is a googol?

William Pardon Tankerfield the Third was mighty smart, wishing for a Googol of Wishes! Or did he have another thought in mind? How do you think this turns out? This is a fun bedtime adventure for kids, parents and grandparents alike.

William Pardon Tankerfield The Third and A Googol of Wishes

In a bit I will play for you the great Oliver Hunt rendition of this beautiful book. There has been lovely snow outside my door since Sunday and we are expecting more tomorrow. It is a dreamy type of existence I am living in right now.

I love this picture of William Pardon Tankerfield the Third. Yes, I drew this picture, but what surprises me is who is looking back at me. I see the eyes of my husband, my son, the eyes of my grandsons, my daughter-in-law, my brothers and sister, and friends. I am beginning to understand that the person who I am now aware of is myself. It surprises, delights and surprises me again.

Here’s what I see: Fun. A little bit of mischief, but loving mischief. Delight to be here. Confidence that all is well. Mainly love. All you need is love.

The book was written as a way to think about and teach my then-10-year-old son about believing in dreams. I wanted him to know he has everything at his disposal to live the kind of life he wishes for. All you need is love.

As I said, I am in a dreamy sort of life today. Touching the magical ideas of happiness. I am grateful. I am love.

So here’s my promise: presenting Oliver Hunt @oliverthereader

Here’s a link to Audible and the first few pages of the adventure. Enjoy.

Situations and Circumstance

When I stop and look around, I notice my current situation. Today I see a comfortable home — not too messy, nor too tidy. I see lots of possible uplifting projects. I look forward to the fun of cooking and making a video or two of my own.

But for now, I want to closely check my environment and the perception of my circumstances, my well-being.

I like the environment I live in. But I notice action-theme is one of concern over the future. I may not want to admit it; I miss dependency on financial employment. I notice energy is lower than usual. If I am brutally honest, I am attaching my writing book projects into this dependency. I am imagining that I am in need. And, that is stopping the flow of satisfaction. In other words I continue to resist the fact that I am free and retired! When I try to force myself back into some fantasy of employment, I am unhappy and unsuccessful. This is a great realization. It’s all in front of me, if I just take notice of my circumstances!

I am reminded when I was about 4 or 5, I sat by the side of our house along a walkway. There were bushes with beautiful pink flowers and big luscious leaves. I made little flower arrangements out of the leaves and flowers and decided I would sell them. Right there! On the side of the house! Twenty feet from the front yard, invisible from people who might walk by! I was saddened I could not draw them to me. As a child, I had the good fortune to move onto the next best idea. I took the flowers to my mother as a present! My sadness immediately evaporated.

Book selling now has a similar attachment of sadness. I look at reports every day and try to remain positive. I feel foolish to have such lofty dreams. And, here is where the idea of looking at circumstances comes into play. The more I show concerned, the worse the circumstance looks to me! I can change this circumstance by changing my thoughts, by changing my concern. I can take the essential motivation for writing, love, and transform it into something beautiful.

It is time to live the words I write.

Cooking is always a good idea for me, and fun too! In a moment

When we have defective lives, (lack of health, lack of money, lack of friends and family, etc.), the negative situations create feelings of helplessness, guilt, fear and regret, and, oh yes, a lack of what we think makes us happy. What if we were to interpret the feelings of defective lives as stop signals telling us to change the way we are thinking. Just as changing a light bulb, we could change our negative attitudes toward living. What if we changed the defective thought and connected with the ever-present happiness?

I am cooking up a magnificent potato salad today. And, those ginger cookies can’t come to life without me! I am turning on amazing classical music! I have an idea for a humorous, piano video for my brothers and sister. It’s going to be a fine day, filled with love, joy and happy music!

I feel so much better now. I am indeed on the current in the river of life. I am one among all. I breathe with ease now. Thank you for letting me share my thoughts with you. I hope they help you also. Together we can build a happier world!

Best to you,

Getting To Happy

Hi everyone!  I’m looking forward to the completion of a work-in-process:  Getting To Happy.  It should be ready for print in December!  What a wonderful, fun project.  It just keeps getting better.

Here is a partial draft as an introduction.  Enjoy!  And, keep smiling!

My Loyalty To Happiness

This book is written for me, and offered to you! I find myself struggling when I unconsciously observe situations around me. I often observe sickness, aging, repetitive suffering, misunderstanding, inability to relate in ways that inspire and allow happiness. I know happiness exists eternally somewhere deep inside. I want to revisit my natural inclination to live a happier, more satisfying life. I want to develop physical representations that are pleasing to me by elevating my attitude. I invite you to come along with me. If you are serious about living a happy life, this can be the book to visit often.

I have been told repeatedly that all good things must come to an end. Family members have insinuated that you can’t be happy all the time. Even though I find myself sinking beyond my natural state of happiness, I firmly believe it is always present. It is up to me to allow the frequency that matches happiness. Happiness is my natural state of being. It is possible to live happily ever after. It is possible to conduct myself within certain attitudes that match happiness. There is little to be gained for me to resonate with the lower vibrations of negative thinking. Happiness doesn’t live there. You can disagree with me. You may consider the pursuit of happiness an immature way to approach life. We are free beings capable of choosing any number of thoughts and attitudes. These writings will help you recognize the connection between your thoughts and attitudes, the guiding force of emotional energy and your physical and material outcomes.

I leave the world of happiness whenever I block my natural pathway with negative illusionary thoughts such as irritation, frustration, worry, apprehension, anger and despair. The experience can be like finding myself within a pinball game where my thoughts bounce back and forth against bumper synapses. I may find myself a long way from happiness, when I am comparing myself to family and friends. As I become aware of these thoughts, and reign them in, I can immediately enter the world of satisfaction and peace. When I am not focusing on fears and concerns provided me by the world news, I can immediately enter the world of quiet, cooperation and love.

Happy thoughts cause life-changing,  waves of vibration that travel well beyond what I could ever do with actions stemming from duty or guilt. I have taught myself to replace negative words with those that hold positivity. Then any actions will collaborate with joy. Your world will always be what you imagined.

….more to come!
