Better To Think New Thoughts

Positive Thoughts, Positive Life Products

In first three years of your life you were in the receptive mode much of the time. You were observing the world around you and you freely interacted with it. You may not have many memories of this time. You were engrossed in relating and interacting with people, places and things around you. Your eyes and attention were often wide open!

Whenever your body felt something you did not choose, you learned to communicate through crying. When you were delighted, you often let it all out with screams of joy. You were close to your non-physical being-ness. Your parents often saw you staring blankly into space and wondered what world you were in.

Now you may be pretty much set in your ways. Even the most conscious of us, forget old thoughts can become stagnant and negative. Negative thoughts can influence our life. One negative plus one negative equal two negatives. Two negatives plus two negatives equal four negatives. When our thoughts center around worrying over money, a test, the loss of a friend, or even remembering hurtful experiences, we block the possibilities of positivity!

The thing is you can’t have any happiness without positivity. This is due to the fact happiness cannot coexist with negativity. Changing your world depends on your ability to live in a happy environment. Your biggest job today is to find ways to improve upon negative thinking.

Re-wording the way you talk about something can create a more positive thought.

Words are formed to express a specific meaning or attitude.  Words have the power to hold us in current situations. Words are close evidence of our thoughts.


Yet, we use words so casually. We seldom think about word’s impact on ourselves and others. We sprinkle words around from morning to night and rarely take responsibility for them or notice how they form our day.  We have been born into a world of pre-existing meaning.  It is challenging to break away from negativity.

A challenge is never to be feared! I believe you can have no thoughts without words. So, how we use them is important!

POSITIVE THOUGHTS:

  • ARE LIGHTLY THOUGHTFUL. Remember the infant/toddler? Can’t you hear the little one coo and giggle at what is seen, felt, heard, touched, smelled?
  • EMIT GENEROSITY. It is easy to relate to others with inclusivity and without judgement when you engage in positive words .
  • SEND MESSAGES OF EASE, WELL-BEING, SATISFACTION. Whether you are walking to work, washing the dishes, mowing the lawn, driving a car, making dinner, when positive thoughts are vibrating within your brain, you receive happy messages. This way you will know your thinking is positive. If you feel poorly, you are thinking negative thoughts, even if you are not paying attention.

Exercising, socializing and meditating will help wean you from negative thinking (worry, anxiety, disappointment, anger, resentment, jealousy, depression, etc.). Choosing on-going education is an excellent way to change your thoughts by improving your words. This can include traveling to a new country or state, walking across the street to get better acquainted with a neighbor, reading a book difficult for you to read, listening to a new type of music until you can understand its magic.

As part of your early morning preparation for the day, it can be fun to choose one new person, place or thing you are going to meet up with this day. This is how I came up with the February Commitment to Write Challenge!

You may agree, when you first realized the power you have over your life, everything changed. Now it is time to better understand this power. We are here as individuals. Yet we are also here intrinsically joined to every person, place and thing. What choices will we make for ourselves, realizing the impact on others. Are we able to lift ourselves up and others also. This is the new way of thinking that brings a more positive life.

Here’s some interesting facts about the word “googol” which is unlike the company “Google” we are all so familiar with.

A googol is the number 10100 (or 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000). The word googol was first used by 9-year-old Milton Sirotta, nephew of U.S. mathematician Edward Kasner. Sirotta made this word in 1938, for the number represented by the numeral 1 followed by 100 zeros. It is said that the word “googol” was chosen to represent this number because it sounded like baby talk. The company Google was named after the number “googol”. It was named this because it was said that not only did google sound like googol, but Google had a googol search results.

Sounds like some strange animal or a creature from outer space, doesn’t it? But it’s neither of them. A googol is a number, a very large number. You are probably familiar with numbers such as:
1 + 6 zeroes = 1,000,000, one million
1 + 9 zeroes = 1,000,000,000, one billion
1 + 12 zeroes = 1,000,000,000,000, one trillion
1 + 15 zeroes = 1,000,000,000,000,000, one quadrillion.
But did you know that there are names for numbers larger than these?

1 + 21 zeroes = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, one sextillion
1 + 24 zeroes = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, one septillion

The largest number with a name, however, is a 1 followed by 100 zeroes. That is a googol. It was named by the 9-year old nephew of a mathematician, who was explaining to the boy what that 1 with 100 zeroes after it looked like. When he asked the boy what that number should be called, the boy answered, a “googol.” And that name stuck!

Atmosphere of LOVE in the air, where to start!

Prepare for Valentines Day by random acts of love to self today!
 

All you need is love!  Today is Madly In Love with ME Day! Start with making a list of ways you will show love to yourself. This is probably the hardest list you will ever make. So at least find two loving things you will definitely do for yourself today.

BE KIND to yourself! All day today! When you hear self-defeating thoughts running around your head, eating into the fun of today, re-word the thought.

  • It goes something like this:
    • You should eat something more healthy. This thought does nothing for your happy day. Let’s try to re-word.
    • It might be fun to cut up an apple and eat it. I could even sprinkle a little cinnamon on top. Do you hear a little attitude of fun? Are you more lighthearted? Just changing the words can move your attitude from duty to adventure!
  • Another example:
    • The house looks a mess.  I’m such a loser. This thought crushes your self-image. Let’s hurriedly change the wording.
    • It looks like I’ve been busy with projects and also enjoying myself.  Good work, Barbara!  Might be a fun time to spruce it up a little.  I like when it’s tidy! Your words have power to lift you up or smash you down. You just need to be aware of those pesky self-defeating thoughts.

Have FUN.  Once you discover feelings that are comfortable, uplifting, ride them like you are surfing a giant wave. Become an expert. Enjoy the comfortable feelings! Enjoy! Live in this positive world as long as you can. When you notice uncomfortable thoughts like negative self-perception, doubt, regret, even resentment come along, gently let them go. These thoughts can only shut off the fun times, so release them like you would a toy sail boat on a lake. Let the wind take them. You are busy having fun!

Stay HAPPY. Once you entertain kindness and fun times, staying happy is a certainty. Live these three rules within yourself and you have it made. The more you practice, the easier you expand your vision, appreciation and enjoyment.

On this day before giving love, spend time showering yourself with your heartfelt approval. Gently offer the imaginary scent of flowers to all the cells in your body from head to toe. Smile and let that smile radiate down through your arms and legs. Don’t be afraid to tell yourself, I love you!  When you can love yourself today, you will truly give the gift of love to others tomorrow.

I pass this piece of wisdom on to you today. Be best friends with yourself. Stop creating a nagging mother and an unhappy child from within. When you see a flaw, love the flaw. Soon you will realize this is not a flaw at all. This is who you are today. Discover it and love it! …. The only person who can see you the way you see you, is yourself!!! It follows then, the only person who can please you, and compliment you, and make you feel important, is yourself.  

Give up trying to fit in and LIVE your life with joy. You and I are marvelous creations. Enjoy today with your best friend who will always be with you … you!

Commitment to Write: Day 10 February 2019

Often it is not the incident bringing suffering but our perception of the event. 
A tree can fall on two different homes. The first neighbor runs out in terror. Her face twitches with distress. She thinks how will she ever recover! The other neighbor comes out of her home. She runs to comfort her neighbor. She exhibits strength as she focuses on the well-being of the other. She has little blocking her. Many years of diligence brought her to this point. Though the tree fell on both houses, each responded in a different way. Their reactions depended on what negative emotional debris was currently on their individual paths. 
Negative debris blocks happiness. When we wish to return to the happiness we love, we find we are blocked by confusion. There are people who have evolved to consistently clear thinking. I am not always this person. I am part of ever changing energy. What appears clear one day can emerge doubtful the next. However, the one thing I have going for me is my commitment to syncing to a happy state.

It is not the things that happen to us. It is the way we think about the things that happen to us.

After ten days of committing to writing, I see the power of commitment. I am refining my attention to what I want. As I tune into repeated focus, I improve the frequency. It becomes easier, more facile.

Commitment to happiness can bring about great returns!

A happy lifestyle can be achieved and improved upon by consistently using maintenance tools. The most beneficial tool for me when I feel angry, lonely, anxious, stressed, is this: STOP! Become aware of my thoughts! Choose words or actions allowing better feelings.

Negative thoughts produce more unhappy, intense feelings the longer you entertain them.

When you mine negative thoughts, (looking for reasons, excuses, past experiences, etc,) you find yourself falling deeper and deeper in negativity. Minus one plus minus one equals minus two. Minus two and minus two equals minus four. The more you hang out with negative thinking, the deeper and louder the negative feelings present themselves.

This is because uncomfortable feelings alert you! What you are thinking is taking you far away from your invisible self of well-being. The more you continue down the road of negativity, the louder your feelings of unhappiness emerge to tell you to STOP, turn around, change your way of thinking, your way of talking. Now!

When you change your way of thinking and talking, when you change the direction by changing activities, you will feel better. Good-feeling emotions say, Congratulations, you are heading in the direction you most want to go!

A positive one plus a positive one equals a positive two. A positive two and a positive two equals a positive four. The more you hang out with positive thinking, the deeper your happiness will become! You can’t miss with positive thinking. The trick here is to practice.

  • STOP as soon as you are aware of feeling uncomfortable
    • irritated
    • stressed
    • lonely
    • embarrassed
    • inadequate
    • fearful
  • Be thankful for the realization. Describe what is currently happening.
  • Find a better-feeling way to describe it.
    • For instance: I feel so irritated stuck in the house with so much snow outside! The emotion of irritation alerts you! You are off the happiness course. Turn around! So you say, I’m a little off. Ordinarily I love the snow. Wouldn’t it be nice if I could complete my quilting project while it is snowing.
  • Do you feel better? If so, turn on some music and start quilting! You’ve learn emotional navigation!

The longer you can remain with positive thinking, the longer you can live a positive life. It’s really as simple as that. It takes commitment, attention and self-compassion. This tool has worked for me for a number of years and can be helpful for you.

Situations and Circumstance

When I stop and look around, I notice my current situation. Today I see a comfortable home — not too messy, nor too tidy. I see lots of possible uplifting projects. I look forward to the fun of cooking and making a video or two of my own.

But for now, I want to closely check my environment and the perception of my circumstances, my well-being.

I like the environment I live in. But I notice action-theme is one of concern over the future. I may not want to admit it; I miss dependency on financial employment. I notice energy is lower than usual. If I am brutally honest, I am attaching my writing book projects into this dependency. I am imagining that I am in need. And, that is stopping the flow of satisfaction. In other words I continue to resist the fact that I am free and retired! When I try to force myself back into some fantasy of employment, I am unhappy and unsuccessful. This is a great realization. It’s all in front of me, if I just take notice of my circumstances!

I am reminded when I was about 4 or 5, I sat by the side of our house along a walkway. There were bushes with beautiful pink flowers and big luscious leaves. I made little flower arrangements out of the leaves and flowers and decided I would sell them. Right there! On the side of the house! Twenty feet from the front yard, invisible from people who might walk by! I was saddened I could not draw them to me. As a child, I had the good fortune to move onto the next best idea. I took the flowers to my mother as a present! My sadness immediately evaporated.

Book selling now has a similar attachment of sadness. I look at reports every day and try to remain positive. I feel foolish to have such lofty dreams. And, here is where the idea of looking at circumstances comes into play. The more I show concerned, the worse the circumstance looks to me! I can change this circumstance by changing my thoughts, by changing my concern. I can take the essential motivation for writing, love, and transform it into something beautiful.

It is time to live the words I write.

Cooking is always a good idea for me, and fun too! In a moment

When we have defective lives, (lack of health, lack of money, lack of friends and family, etc.), the negative situations create feelings of helplessness, guilt, fear and regret, and, oh yes, a lack of what we think makes us happy. What if we were to interpret the feelings of defective lives as stop signals telling us to change the way we are thinking. Just as changing a light bulb, we could change our negative attitudes toward living. What if we changed the defective thought and connected with the ever-present happiness?

I am cooking up a magnificent potato salad today. And, those ginger cookies can’t come to life without me! I am turning on amazing classical music! I have an idea for a humorous, piano video for my brothers and sister. It’s going to be a fine day, filled with love, joy and happy music!

I feel so much better now. I am indeed on the current in the river of life. I am one among all. I breathe with ease now. Thank you for letting me share my thoughts with you. I hope they help you also. Together we can build a happier world!
